Friday marks National Donut Day and we are so excited to celebrate! We’ve never met a donut we didn’t like. With their delicious flavor and divine texture, what is there not to love? We’re very much fans of the traditional glazed donut, but have been known to get a little more adventurous when the opportunity presents itself. While we have never tried our hand at making our own donut confections, these recipes make it seem like it’s definitely something any Sloanie can handle. We could have picked a (baker’s) dozen recipes to feature, but here’s just 3 must try recipes according to your resident donut experts – us!
These my not be the most adventurous donut, but they are sure to please the masses. Yes, they’re simple in flavor, but so so good! The light texture will have you wanting to eat more than just one, so plan on eating two and doing an extra 30 minutes of cardio afterwards. See the full recipe at Sally’s Baking Addiction.
Raspberry Ripple Doughnuts
This recipe is from one of Britain’s finest food bloggers and uses one of our favorite summer fruits! They not only have a raspberry jam filling, but have a cream filling as well, and are lightly coated in sugar. We probably don’t need to say more, just go bake them.
Cake Mix Donuts
Let’s face it, donuts are not making the list for healthy eating, so if healthy eating is your jam we suggest trying these cake mix donuts to get your donut fix. They won’t taste the same as a regular donut, but they’ll be quite a bit healthier. One perk of these cake donuts is that you can make them out of any flavor of cake mix you’d like! I also bet you could cut the oil and use half applesauce instead. See the recipe and all the deets here!
