Chances are you’ve already met these guys on the big screen, but this week we’re giving you the lowdown on super-Sloanie British actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. They’re talented, well-connected and taking the world by storm right now.

Edward John David Redmayne (Eddie)

Sloane-Ranger-British-Actors-02

Born: 01/06/82

Educated: Eton College and Cambridge University

Relationship Status: Married

Work: Les Misérables, The Theory of Everything, Jupiter Ascending, My Week With Marilyn. Eddie has also modelled for Burberry alongside Cara Delevingne.

Eddie started his acting career in the theatres of London’s West End, and won an Oscar last year for his portrayal of Dr Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything.’ He was awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) by the Queen this year for his services to drama. The 33-year-old attended Eton College with Prince William, and credits his Eton drama teacher – rather than his elite education – for inspiring him to take to the stage. Eddie’s set to star in a Harry Potter spin-off movie, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,’ next summer. Our favorite Eddie moment ever? His emotional, awestruck Oscar acceptance speech. Which he rounded off by thanking his wife, Hannah, and announcing that there was a ‘new guy’ coming to live with them. Yep, he meant his brand new Oscar!

Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch

Born: 07/19/76

Educated: Harrow School and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)

Relationship Status: Married

Work: The Imitation Game, Twelve Years a Slave, Sherlock (TV Series), Atonement, War Horse. Benedict also started his acting career in the theatre, playing countless Shakespearean lead roles.

Eddie might’ve beaten Benedict to the Oscar in a head-to-head battle of the Brits, but Benedict was graced in the Queen’s yearly honors list with an honor above Eddie’s OBE. Yup, Cumberbatch was given a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to the performing arts and charity. That’s one step away from a knighthood for the much-loved British actor who became a household name playing the lead role in a modernised TV series of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Benedict is currently back on stage playing Hamlet in London, but wait – tickets sold out about a million years ago. Our most treasured Benedict moment? His suave dance moves with Michael Fassbender at the Golden Globes afterparty. Swoon!

Thomas William Hiddleston (Tom)

Sloane-Ranger-British-Actors-04

Born: 02/09/81

Educated: Eton College and Cambridge University

Relationship Status: Thought to be dating actress Elizabeth Olsen

Work: Thor, The Avengers, Midnight in Paris, War Horse. Like Eddie and Benedict, Tom is also a classically-trained actor and has a wealth of experience playing Shakespearean roles on stage.

Tom was in Eddie’s (and Prince William’s) year at Eton College, and went to Cambridge at the same time as Eddie, too. A self-proclaimed feminist, Tom took part in an Elle Magazine campaign recently (alongside Benedict Cumberbatch) to demystify the feminist brand and stand up for equal rights. Our standout Hiddleston moment? His hilarious and totally on point Robert de Niro impression – performed for Robert de Niro himself – on a British chat show recently.

Consider yourselves well met, Sloanies. Until next week, cheerio!
