Guide to Harbour Island

Harbour Island Guide

While our summer travels have been booked for some time, we’re always looking for new places to explore. Harbour Island has been on our radar ever since reading about it a few years ago on Bradley Agather Mean’s blog. Since then we’ve followed along as tons of bloggers, celebs, and instagrammers have explored this tiny treasure in the Bahamas. Let us first mention that India Hicks and Diane Von Furstenberg both have used it as inspiration for their collections. India calls it home while Diane has a home there too, along with a slew of other celebrities.

So what makes Harbour Island the place you should visit in 2017? Besides the pink sand beaches, crystal clear water, and tasty food, it’s said to be full of island charm. What more could one want?

Here’s a quick guide of how to get there, where to stay and what you should eat, do, and buy while on your Bahamian getaway.

Getting there: Hop on a plane to North Eleuthera Island from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Nassau. Then it’s a short taxi ride to a ferry to take you the rest of the way. Once you’re on the island make sure to rent a golf cart to get around. The island is tiny – only 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide.

Stay: The Dunmore, Pink Sands Resort, or rent a house. We heard Touchstone House is a lovely rental.

Eat: Sip Sip (we heard the Lobster Quesadilla is a must try), The DunmoreAcquapazzaRunaway HillQueen Conch

Do: Relax (the island vibe will help with this),  Fishing, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Jet Skiing.

Shop: A&A for straw bags, Blue Rooster, The Sugar Mill (India Hicks’s shop), Miss Mae’s, Shine, Coral Sands’ gift shop, Princess Street Gallery, Dake’s
