The joyous news broke last week that Wills and Kate are expecting baby number two next year, but will it be another beautiful little prince for the Cambridges, or a sweet little princess this time around? Prince Charles has already expressed his hopes for a baby granddaughter, but we’ll have to wait till March or April next year to find out whether it’s a little girl or boy who becomes fourth in line to the British throne, knocking Harry further down the list. But for now, let’s take a look at some other pairs of Royal siblings aside from Harry and Wills…
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie
We’ve blogged recently about Princess Bea but only mentioned her cheeky little sis in passing, so let us tell you a little about Princess Eugenie (pronounced you-jay-nee) of York. Seventh in line to the throne and turning 24 this year, Eugenie is first cousin to William and Harry since her father, Prince Andrew, is one of Prince Charles’ two brothers. Her parents divorced when she was six years old, and she was educated in and around Windsor before boarding at Kate and Pippa Middleton’s school Marlborough College from her teens until she went to university. In an interview with Tatler magazine, Eugenie once described her grandmother – the Queen – as ‘one of the most amazing women ever.’
Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips
These siblings are Royals by blood but without rank or title due to an old-fashioned rule that prevents children of female descendants to the monarch being referred as His or Her Royal Highness. So these two took their father’s surname from birth, and Zara is now married to Rugby star Mike Tindall. Zara and Peter’s mother Princess Anne (sister to Prince Charles) was happy to give her children a less public upbringing than their titled cousins. Both siblings now have children of their own, without Royal titles. Zara shares her grandmother’s love of all things equestrian and is an accomplished horsewoman with an Olympic medal to her name, and Peter keeps a lower profile with no regular public duties. Zara shocked the world when she became the first Royal (we know of) to get their tongue and navel pierced as a teenager. Gotta love a rebel!
Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and Viscount Severn
You may recognize cutie Lady Louise from Royal Wedding photos as she was a bridesmaid to William and Kate, and she is now nearly 11 years old. Her little brother James, Viscount Severn, is six and totally adorable – just see below. Their dad is Prince Charles’ other brother, Prince Edward Earl of Wessex, and these two are William and Harry’s youngest cousins.
