If you’re a regular reader of the Modern Prep Gazette you’ll know we’re big fans of the Brit fashion pack – Cara, Poppy, Suki and co – but there’s a new kid on the scene and this one’s proper rock royalty. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Miss Georgia May Jagger.
And you only need to take a look at this 22 year-old’s plump pout to know the Jagger surname is no coincidence. Yep, Georgia May is daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick, and Texan supermodel Jerry Hall. A model herself, she’s walked for Fendi, Miu Miu, Chanel and Vivienne Westwood already, and gained plenty of tabloid inches after her raucous 22nd birthday weekend in Vegas earlier this year. Yep, this girl parties like a Rolling Stone.
The ubiquitous Cara Delevingne, new face Suki Waterhouse and sister Lizzie joined Georgia and others for her Sin City birthday celebrations, taking over an eighteen-bedroom suite at the Palms Casino Resort for the event. And what happens in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas this time, since the partygoers Tweeted and Instagrammed evidence of rooftop pool parties, city limousine cruises and matching basketball vests for all, with G. May 22 printed on the back. That’s some serious Jagger swag.
Back in London Georgia May is Cara Delevingne’s actual real-life flatmate, and she’s busily carving a career for herself as another face of British fashion. G-M currently fronts British cosmetics brand Rimmel – replacing the iconic Kate Moss – and has recently been honoured with a British Vogue cover. Georgia May made her first foray into modelling at the age of 16 when she fronted a billboard campaign for Hudson jeans, and she still collaborates with them six years on. Citing her number one style icon as her very own Mama (awwww) Georgia May had a head-start at all things fashion when as a child she used to pick out what her mother would wear to big social events, making her promise to tell anyone who asked that Georgia had styled her.
She may have a star-studded family, she may holiday in Mustique and she may have spent her childhood touring the world with the Rolling Stones on private jets…. but deep down Georgia May is a regular girl. A dyslexia-sufferer, she struggled with exams at school and celebrated the end of them by burning her math papers, painting her nails and then sleeping for a week. Rock and roll!
As a child, Jagger wanted to be either a vet or a tight rope walker, and today she’s keen to branch out into fashion design and photography, having studied at the New York School of Visual Arts after leaving school in England. Her perspective on fame is level-headed, too. A sharp Brit with a generous helping of Southern Belle charm, she was taught from a young age to always be on time and to be nice to everyone, regardless of how they treat you in return. From her father she has adopted a ruthless work ethic, which has led to her purchasing her first house in London recently – entirely from her modelling earnings and with no help at all from Mom and Dad’s substantial bank accounts. We so admire this gal. Never trashy, always confident.
