The internet broke a little when news surfaced of Pippa Middleton’s engagement to banker James Matthews earlier this summer. It wasn’t the first time the Duchess of Cambridge’s little sister broke the internet – and we can be pretty sure it won’t be the last. Devoted as we are to our Modern Prep Gazette subscribers, we’ve scoured all the best sources and come up with a set of strong predictions for Pippa and James’ Big Day. Enjoy!
Partying all Night
Pippa is a party planner herself, so it’s likely that she will be the one auditioning chefs and choosing the flowers. She planned William and Kate’s wedding reception which was rumored to have resembled an 80s disco with bowls of Haribo candy being handed around by waiting staff – as well as traditional canapes. As wedding planner for a good school friend she cooked and handed out bacon rolls (the ultimate Brit snack) to wedding guests still up and partying at 3am. If Pippa’s in charge, the wedding itself might be formal but the reception will be WILD.
Pippa and Kate’s brother James runs a mail-order marshmallow company called Boomf. They customise marshmallows with photographic images or personalised slogans as unusual gifts, and send them out in cute little boxes. We’d love to hear that guests were served marshmallow canapes at the reception, personalised with pictures of the happy couple. You gotta call in favors from the family when it’s your wedding, right?
Doubtless wary of upstaging her younger sister, we would expect Kate to take a back seat on Pippa’s big day. Whilst she would undoubtedly be a source of support in the lead-up to the wedding, we would be surprised to see Kate cast publicly as Pippa’s Maid of Honor. However, we heartily hope that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are given roles for the day, as page boy and flower girl. James’ younger brother Spencer Matthews (of Made in Chelsea fame) is hotly tipped to deliver the Best Man’s speech.
City Wedding or Country Nuptials?
Although there’s a pretty church in the village of Bucklebury where parents Carole and Michael Middleton live, we think Pippa might shun the family home – Bucklebury Manor – for a chic, London wedding. But if London seems too central and too close to the public eye, there’s always the Caribbean island of St Barths, where James’ parents own the luxurious Eden Rock Hotel. Who knows – Wills and Kate might let Pippa and James use their family home, Anmer Hall, for the reception. Decisions, decisions…
The Dress! OMG THE DRESS!
As for the dress – our money’s on a British designer like Alice Temperley. We think Alexander McQueen is very much Kate’s go-to designer, and Pippa will forge a relationship with her own choice of fashion house for her wedding gown. We can’t wait to see what she wears!
With the Middleton-Matthews wedding expected to take place in 2017, the countdown is officially on! Needless to say, all the goss will be reported right here.
