Rock the Parka This Fall

How to wear a parka

Brrr, Sloanies! Couldn’t you just wrap yourself up and drift off to sleep in this cozy looking parka? All soft and snuggly faux fur on the inside, hardy weatherproof fabric on the outside, and in on-trend khaki green – what’s not to love? So while the weather takes a distinctly chillsome turn, we’re all about keeping it stylish but always practical too. We want a winter coat that we can take to the park, wear out for brunch and throw over our shoulders for a night out on the town. The trusty parka is big news on both sides of the Atlantic right now, and there are countless ways to wear it. Here are some of our favorite ways to style the parka.

Olivia Palermo Style

We turn once again to Saint Olivia (Palermo) for inspiring ways to wear a style, and once more the lady delivers. Here Olivia has interpreted the trend for utility jackets with a waist-length parka-style coat, made edgier with its leather sleeves. Paired with skinny jeans and her trademark ballet flats, a neat bun and cats eye shades. We totally reckon this is how style icon Audrey Hepburn would wear her parka. Trés chic, Olivia!

Olivia Palermo Parka

So we couldn’t resist. Here’s Ms Palermo again, ably demonstrating the parka’s versatility as she rocks the heavy duty look with trademark finesse. Paired with sturdier ankle boots now and a pair of distressed jeans, this is a tougher interpretation made more feminine with the oversized faux fur lined hood. LOVE.

Parka Style

We totes adore this super-Sloanie look, incorporating the parka with heritage textures to create a look that’s one part classy to one part practical. Parkas needn’t come in khaki green only, and this offering in deep navy blue elevates the parka to a distinctly preppier level. Fabrics like plaid, chunky Arran knit, herringbone and buttery-soft leather all complement the parka beautifully. And those Hunter wellies? They’re the cherry on top.

Parka Style

Needless to say, British style queen Alexa Chung offers us further options on ways to rock that parka like a pro. Here she displays all the reasons why the parka (oversize, faux-fur lined) is the perfect antidote to a chilly night out in that glam little black dress. So simple. So darn stylish. Now why didn’t we think of that?

Joules Floral Parka

We love what British label Joules has done with their parka, softening that practical exterior with playful blooms, pink drawstrings and a cute Breton stripe lining. This one’s going right on our Christmas wishlist. The wellies too!
