With the newest Royal baby expected to make his or her debut in April this year, we’re wondering whether events organiser Pippa Middleton will be throwing her big sister a baby shower sometime this month. Allow us to indulge in this gorgeous little fantasy if you will, but we’re imagining a small gathering of close friends and family – perhaps held at the Middleton family home in the English countryside, or maybe in London.
One potential venue for this (ok, totally imaginary) party could be Maggie and Rose in Kensington, London’s first private members’ club for kids, co-owned by family friend Rose Van Cutsem (whose daughter Grace was a bridesmaid for Wills and Kate at their wedding in 2011).
As for presents, the mind positively boggles as to what dinky little delights Kate and Baby Cambridge will be gifted in the run up to baby’s arrival in April. So naturally we’ve done our research, and put together a list of our top five baby brands and gifts with a right Royal seal of approval – some tried and tested by Prince George himself. If you can’t get over to Amaia Kids in Chelsea Green where Kate’s apparently a regular (and where part of Prince George’s gorgeous Christmas photo shoot outfit came from) then get online and check out some of our current Sloanie baby faves.
This super celeb-friendly brand sold out of their Sweet Bird Print muslin swaddles overnight when Prince George was taken home from St Mary’s Hospital all wrapped up in his. Setting trends quicker than his Mama – now that takes some doing, Baby G!The brand’s Jungle Jam range is perfect for gender neutral-baby gifts, and their New Beginnings Gift Set is a delightful bundle of super-soft, muslin goodies that are practical as they are luxurious. Sets include two gorgeous, pre-washed swaddle blankets, a handy burpy bib, and a cute Musy Mate comforter toy all made in soft, pre-washed 100% cotton. US shoppers get an additional Swaddle Love Book, whilst UK shoppers get an extra muslin square in giraffe print as part of the set. Prince George’s homecoming blanket was from the this particular Aden + Anais collection, so baby will be in majestic company indeed with this set in their nursery…
- Shoo Shoos
Or what about a pair of tiny little shoes for a Prince or Princess? We just love these Shoo Shoos with cute little crowns and tiaras stitched into their beautifully soft leather. These supple, squidgy Shoo Shoos are all handcrafted in South Africa, employing those from disadvantaged communities to learn new skills and elevate themselves from poverty. Happy shoes for baby feet – simply too cute. And while the Royal baby’s gender remains to be confirmed, we would have to purchase both pairs of course…
- The Little White Company
We love it that we can browse spoily gifts for Mama (or ourselves…) like scented candles and delicious lotions and potions at The White Company, before looking at blankets and other goodies for baby. We’ve swooned over their tiny cardigans, cotton dresses and matching bloomers for baby girls recently, and want to wrap ourselves up in their dreamy soft satin-edged cellular blankets. If only they made them in adult sizes…
- Hippy Chick
This London-based kids’ brand creates lovely and innovative baby products that make life easier for parents: stylish bibs, mats and carriers, that sort of thing. Prince George was snapped wearing one of their fleece lined, waterproof all-in-ones out on a toddle with his nanny in Hyde Park recently. Now doesn’t he look like his Daddy?
- Little Butterfly London
Pippa Middleton has purchased bath milks from this London-based skincare range for children before, though of course we can merely speculate as to who she was buying them for! Little Butterfly Organic is actually the first luxury British brand to specialize in natural and organic-certified skincare for babies only, so it’s truly one-of-its-kind. All their beautifully-packaged, good-enough-to-eat products contain ingredients which nourish, protect and care for a baby’s delicate skin. Sounds positively fit for a Prince or Princess to us!
So what would you bring to Kate’s baby shower for baby number two? We’re spoilt for choice!
