Sloanie Hits the Slopes – Ski Trip Essentials

The joyful ski season is just around the corner now and any discerning prepster will be busily curating their ski trip wardrobe ahead of jetting off to Klosters, Mont Tremblant or Aspen for a week or two. Whether you’re skiing with friends or en famille this season, we’ve got your preppy chalet look sorted for crisp mornings on the slopes, long lazy lunches up in the mountains – of course – plenty of riotous après ski action.

Faux Fur Trim

On your jacket hood, mittens, boot tops, helmet, headband – but not altogether at once, please! You’ll already know that the faux fur vest is a must-have this A/W, and this super-luxe look is perfect for the slopes too. Make like Middleton sisters and swap your crash helmet for a faux fur hat when you stop off for a chocolat chaud – they’re all the rage in Courchevel 1850. Or follow the rest of the hip Chelsea set and make sure your chunky knit beanie has an oversized faux fur pom-pom on top for a look that’s super charming and stylish too.

Print Leggings

Choose a cosy thermal option and pull them on under your salopettes for extra warmth in sub-zero temperatures, then you’re party-ready when you come off the slopes. Hurrah! Bright, zany print was everywhere on the summer festival circuit this year and workout gear in general has significantly upped its tempo too with the advent of Lululemon and friends, so let that bold eccentric vibe rock on all winter!

Statement Sweater

Already a big fall trend, the statement sweat has its rightful place on the slopes, too. It’s also the perfect pairing with leggings for cosy evenings warming up by an open fire with friends. Combining practicality and style in one decisive motion, this ironic fashion item is raising smiles in a sport that’s traditionally known for taking itself a little too seriously. So go for it – and the bolder the better! And make sure yours is super festive if you’re off skiing around Christmas time. Choose one that fits snugly enough to wear under your ski jacket if needed. Cashmere strictly optional.

A couple of years back it was all about mirrored Ray Ban Aviators for skiing with style – we think they look super cute paired with a faux fur pom pom beanie – and then everyone was hitting the mountains in fluorescent rimmed Wayfarers. And not so long ago there was a time when sporty-looking Oakleys or Bolle shades were the only thing to see through and be seen in when the goggles came off. But this season you won’t be surprised to read that anything goes. Take your inspiration from the summer festival trend for playful sunnies, and go from there…

We’d love to see your winter sports ensembles on Instagram, so remember to tag us @SloaneRanger in your next selfie and we’ll regram the looks we heart the most. Mountain scenery preferred but not essential!
