We Heart Cressy

Cressida-Bonas
Cressida Bonas exploded onto our radar when pictures of her partying at Glastonbury Festival hit the papers earlier this summer. Prince Harry’s girlfriend was papped picking her way through a crowd in a pair of baggy dungarees, wearing a scrunchie in her tousled long blonde hair and lime green sunglasses. And what was that she had balancing in her hand? A plate of fries. A huge plate of fries.

It was love at first sight.

And Cressida couldn’t be less like Kate Middleton with her tousled hair, laid-back boho look and that ubiquitous scrunchie, but we love her all the same and we’re quite frankly obsessed with her style. She might count the super-smart King’s Road as her favourite hangout, but she and her friends head for bohemian and artsy Colbert on Sloane Square for their cocktails and catch ups.

With her expressive background – she has a degree in dance and is now training as an actress – it’s no wonder Cressida’s crew is a bohemian, rebellious and artsy set. She likes folky music like Mumford and Sons and was recently spotted at a James Blunt gig at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill… with Harry! She also loves all things drama  – especially if it’s edgy – and went to see The Book of Mormon in London with Harry recently. Cressy’s crew are festival-goers and ravers, mixing up their social life with glam evenings out in the Royal Borough and intimate dinner parties at friend’s London pads and country retreats – especially now the British shooting season is underway. We expect to see her jet off to Verbier for some skiing as she did with Harry last year when the couple stayed with Prince Andrew and spent a week inseparable on the slopes together.

From her penchant for brightly-colored maxi dresses to her biker jackets, beanies and Converse trainers, she’s brave enough to dress her age despite the fact she comes straight out of a “twinset and pearls” culture. Bravo for her!

Coming from a bunch of well-bred and influential Londoners known as the ‘Sloane Ravers’ Cressida heads up the pack with her rebellious style and impressive Royal connections. Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie is her BFF and her mom is ex-society beauty Lady Mary Gaye Curzon, the daughter of an Earl. But no thrice-weekly blow dries for this Chelsea girl who sings, dances and loves nothing more than dressing up with glitter and face paint. With her natural good looks, experimental style and slight rebellious streak, what’s not to love about Cressy?

When she’s not hitting up the summer festival circuit, going to society events or attending family gatherings and weddings (she has hundreds of Sloaney siblings) Cressida likes to kick back and watch The West Wing at home. Her creature comforts are scented candles and slabs of chocolate cake from a deli near her financier father’s home in Norfolk.

And with Royal wedding bells tipped to chime next year for Harry and Cressy, we can be sure that if and when it happens the divine Miss Bonas will dream up a wedding look that remains true to her own individual style. Fingers crossed for a white lace scrunchie…
